Gowri Savoor is an Indian rangoli artist. Rangolis are motifs in different colours that are traditionally used to decorate houses during festivals. She is an award-winning rangoli artist. Her group and solo rangoli exhibitions have been displayed internationally. Her latest ‘We Speak the Same Language’ rangoli designs were showcased at the Christine Price Gallery in Catleton, VT, in March 2020. She regularly conducts rangoli design workshops and teaches art in educational residencies. She is available for commissioned work and is quite experienced in drawing, sculpture, painting, and rangoli design. Rangoli designs are first created on a solid-colour background on a floor or canvas. Coloured sand or limestone powder is used to fill in the beautiful rangoli designs. Most rangoli designs are mandalas with motifs or patterns splashed with eye-popping colours.
